About This Project

The gk residence is a sensitive and understated remodel of a true mid-century modern ranch located in Phoenix’s Arcadia neighborhood. The original modern ranch home was built in 1956 and included expansive windows, three bedrooms and two baths, and a garage. The design-build remodel took a snappy four months to complete and included a complete renovation of the home, demolition of 600 sf and a 1,000 sf addition. The remodel provided en-suite bathrooms in all three bedrooms along with the addition of a hall bath pre-plumbed to provide a 4 bedroom 4 bath option in the future. The bright and open floor plan uses large Arcadia glass sliders to blend interior and exterior spaces. Generous amounts of limestone flooring, warm walnut mill work, a large etched basalt interior/exterior fireplace, and large Persian rugs work to create a modern yet familiar environment. Lighting is controlled via a Lutron lighting control system that provides scene control, including control of the home’s exterior shading system by MechoSystems. Wired for a complete audiophile experience, the home uses a Heos audio system to power Noble Fidelity L-85 mk II speakers located in twelve unique zones, providing an infinitely customizable audio experience.
